With Australia leading the five-match series 2-1 and on the brink of reclaiming the Ashes urn, England fans have been left disappointed, especially after rain in Manchester denied their team a chance to level the series at 2-2.
On Thursday, there was more disappointment in store for the home fans as England were bowled out for 283 in their first innings. Australia were 61/1 in reply when the first day’s play ended.
Ian Ward, who was the host of that segment, tried to take the matter lightly by laughing it off, but Ricky Ponting found nothing funny about the incident. He denied to let it lie while giving a cold stare at the English crowd. The World Cup-winning captain also vowed to find out the culprits behind the grape attack.
Talking about the ongoing game, the Australian cricket team will resume Day 2 on 61 for one with Usman Khawaja on 26 off 75 and Marnus Labuschagne on 2 off 23. Australia is still 222 runs away from taking a lead in the first innings of the Test match.
Australia has already retained the Ashes after the final day of the 4th Test match in Manchester last week was washed out due to rain resulting in a drawn match.
