Mario's Galactic Adventure Teaser Arrives, Unveiling New Characters Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voice Cast
Nintendo and Illumination unveiled the debut comprehensive teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie midweek. The reveal happened in a Nintendo-focused broadcast that centered on the forthcoming animated feature.
The follow-up to the 2023 hit film The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this fresh entry will transport Mario to the outer limits of the galaxy. In his journey, he meets a different royal figure and a challenging new adversary in Bowser Jr., the son of the King of the Koopas.
An Interstellar Journey Drawing from Iconic Releases
In the vein of the Wii console classics that provide its foundation, Mario will venture away from the familiar comforts of the Mushroom Kingdom to travel across the galaxy. Throughout his extensive trek, he will encounter once more some well-known personalities, for instance the Luma, a popular character from the first movie.
Yet it looks like Mario and his brother Luigi will face a fresh enemy in the form of Bowser's irate young son, who reportedly utilizes powers related to metal. Interestingly, the teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not only concentrated on Galaxy-themed scenes; it also includes nods to other beloved games like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
All-Star Vocal Ensemble Returns and Expands
The film will see the return of the primary vocal talent, with Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
Joining the cast for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will bring to life Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to represent Bowser Jr. This was confirmed by the CEO of Illumination, Chris Meledandri.
A Significant Period for Mario
The new Mario movie is scheduled to arrive close to the 40-year celebration of the original Super Mario Bros. game. Apart from the cinematic release, 2026 looks set to be a important time for Mario and his companions.
Nintendo confirmed a trio of new releases already confirmed for 2026, such as Mario Tennis Fever, a release on Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a fresh Yoshi side-scroller titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Launch Date Set
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is officially set to be released on April 3, 2026.
