NEW DELHI: Mark Wood pranks Ben Stokes : The players might engage in intense battles on the field which leave them exhausted but they also tickle the funny bones at times to keep themselves afresh.

England fast bowler Mark Wood played a prank with his captain Ben Stokes as he was getting ready for his pre-match press conference ahead of the fifth and final Ashes Test starting Thursday at The Oval.
As Stokes was sitting down in the press conference room, he heard the iconic ‘Barbie Girl’ song in the room. Stokes looked completely confused before he managed to find out that it was Wood who was playing the iconic Barbie song.

“As Ben Stokes was sitting down for his pre-match press conference. Mark Wood decided to hijack the microphone and have a bit of fun. Barbie 1-0 Oppenheimer,” England Cricket tweeted.
Addressing the media on Wednesday, Stokes said the Ashes wash-out at Old Trafford left England feeling emotionless but they will need no stirring ahead of the fifth Test.

“Leaving Manchester after the game was done, I’ve never left the field, never left a game emotionless,” Stokes said. “It was a really bizarre feeling the way the game petered out because of the weather.

While Ben Stokes was settling into the seat in the press conference room at The Oval in London, he heard the iconic ‘Barbie Girl’ song in the room. Stokes looked bemused even as the reporters in the room had a good laugh.

Eventually, Stokes figured out that it was Mark Wood who was playing the Barbie song. Wood, who was at the venue, tried to hijack Stokes’s press conference and found success by doing so.

The Barbie Girl song, which has been used in the end credits of the recently-released Hollywood movie Barbie, made sure the press conference ahead of the much-anticipated 5th Test between England and Australia, was on a lighter note.
